Howard
Morgan - First Round Capital
Dr. Howard Morgan began working with Idealab in 1996
and serves on their board. Howard is also President and Founder of the
Arca Group, Inc., a consulting and venture capital investment firm
specializing in the areas of computer and communications technologies
and a partner in First Round Capital, an early stage venture fund. He
has more than 25 years of experience with more than thirty high-tech
entrepreneurial ventures. Howard was Professor of Decision Sciences at
the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and Professor of
Computer Science at the Moore School at the University of Pennsylvania
for almost 15 years. He serves on the boards of a number of companies
and is a respected author. He received the Entrepreneur of the Year
Award in 1997. Howard received his Ph.D. in operations research from
Cornell University and his B.S. from the City University of New York.
An entrepreneur since childhood lemonade stands, Jeffrey believes that "technology can increase the speed of business and reduce hassle."
He has launched numerous companies that have gone on to be successful growing to hire stable workforces, including Mimeo.com, a Deloitte Fast 50 Technology company that has made the Inc. 500 twice in the last three years. Most recently focussing his time at Urgent Career, which is pioneering the use of transcribed conversations and computational linguistics to match business professionals with compatible employment opportunities.
Stephen Messer - Founder of LinkShare
Stephen Messer founded, built and sold Linkshare
Corporation with his sister Heidi. The sale of Linkshare to Rakuten Inc
for for several hundred million dollars in 2005 is widely recognized as
one of the most significant investor exits in the New York new media
market in the last decade. Now working in Stealth mode on their second
venture under the name "World Evolved", Stephen persevered when lots of
people said his model wouldn't work, and displayed the true
entrepreneurial zeal by blowing all the naysayers away, and producing
incredible real world results.
